Description: 
Geographic panel based tests are performed at Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory (RIPL), PHE Microbiology services, Porton Down, Salisbury.

There are 11 test panels:
Australasia and Pacific islands
South East Asia
Southern Asia
Central and Eastern Asia
North Africa and Western Asia
Sub-Saharan Africa
Northern Europe and Western Europe
Southern Europe
Eastern Europe
North America
Latin America and Carribbean

Acutely infected patients are assessed for RNA / DNA of pathogens in addition to the panel based serology.

Tests include rickettsial antibodies (when relevant), flaviviruses (dengue virus, West Nile virus, JE virus, yellow fever virus, TBE viruses etc), alphaviruses (chikungunya virus etc), phleboviruses (rift valley fever virus, sandfly fever viruses etc), hantaviruses (puumala, hantaan, seoul) etc.
