Description: 
Sample sent to King's College Hospital (KCH) Immunology referral laboratory for Tetanus serology testing. May be used in the investigation of suspected defects in humoral immunity. Not used in the diagnosis of tetanus cases.
Clinical details: 
Pre and post vaccination levels may be helpful in the investigation of suspected defects in humoral immunity. Both samples should be analysed in the same run.
Reference range: 

The majority of vaccinated individuals will demonstrate levels >0.15IU/ml

500 ul serum or 2.5 – 5ml Yellow Top Serum Separation Tube (SST) Clotted Blood (for serum).

Storage and transport: 
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR). To prevent sample haemolysis please store samples in refrigerator if a delay in sending samples to CSR is unavoidable.
