Chemokine CXCL13

Description:
The chemokine CXCL13 promotes the migration of B cells from lymphoid tissue to sites of inflammation as part of the adaptive immune response. CXCL13 has been suggested as a biomarker of germinal centre activity.
Clinical details:
CXCL13 expression in increased in autoimmune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and neuromyelitis optica. In many of these conditions CXCL13 expression has been shown to correlate with disease activity and poor prognosis. CXCL13 expression has also been suggested as an inflammatory marker in infection and cancer.
