Description: 
Culture, identification and susceptibility testing of any organism likely to be pathogenic.
Turnaround time: 
1-3 days
Special sample instructions: 

The sample may be obtained either from a transient ("in and out") catheterisation or from an indwelling catheter. Samples from indwelling catheters should be collected aseptically from the sample port in the catheter tubing and not from the collection bag.

Storage and transport: 
Sterile universal container, samples should be refrigerated if transport to the laboratory is delayed.
