Purine Research Laboratory at St Thomas' Hospital
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
We are a UKAS accredited medical laboratory (No.9093), accredited to ISO15189:2012 for the tests listed in the schedule of accreditation available on the UKAS website (https://www.ukas.com/wp-content/uploads/schedule_uploads/00007/9093-Medical-Single.pdf). Any tests not currently accredited, are noted as such in the test details on this website.
Our laboratory has been providing specialised diagnostic services for purine and pyrimidine disorders to the NHS since the early 1970s.
Research into these areas, as well as into pharmacogenetics and therapeutic drug monitoring, continues to be translated into the diagnostic service and clinical practice.
We provide a comprehensive diagnostic service for:
- Inherited disorders of purine and pyrimidine metabolism (metabolite screens on urine and plasma, enzyme assays and genetic testing).
- Pharmacogenetics and therapeutic drug monitoring to personalise the therapy of drugs targeting purine and pyrimidine metabolic pathways (thiopurines, fluoropyrimidines and low dose methotrexate).
