Rhesus Immunisations inc Kleihauer
Description:
Rhesus Immunisations inc Kleihauer
Used for the prevention of Rh(D) immunisation in Rh(D) negative mothers. During pregnancy and delivery there is a chance that infant cells will enter the mother's circulation. If the child is Rh(D) positive, this provides a stimulus for the mother to produce Anti-D antibodies which may affect the viability of future pregnancy.
Estimation of transplacental haemorrhage allows sufficient Anti-D to be administered to prevent the production of alio-anti D.
The same estimation of transplacental haemorrhage can be made to guide the clinician in clinical decisions during PV bleeding and trauma in pregnancy.
