Non blood body fluid cell counts

Description: 
Cell counts on body fluids are performed to identify the presence of white blood cells or cells that should not be present e.g. metastatic disease. Counts may be performed on synovial, ascitic, pericardial or pleural fluids.

This test is not currently included in the laboratory's UKAS scope of accreditation to ISO15189:2012.

Special sample instructions: 

Due to risk of infection only samples in closed system will be processed, i.e. samples must be collected in an adult EDTA tube.
