Sample type and Volume required: 
The specimen collected should be a single TERMINAL urine (the last few drops) collected between 10.00 and 14.00 or a 24 hour collection of terminal urines in a plain container without any preservatives.

Special sample instructions: 

Sterile Universal container - send sample to laboratory as soon as possible. Consider sending serum for serological investigation. Terminal urine (last few drops) ideally taken between 10.00 and 14.00 (Ova from the parasite Schistosoma haematobium attach to the bladder wall and are released periodically into the urine especially after exercise. The density of ova in the urine varies throughout the day with the highest number obtained between 10.00 and 14.00 hours.)

Storage and transport: 
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR).
