Complement fixation test

Description:
Complement Fixation Test (CFT) detects both specific IgG and IgM. In practice it cannot be used to distinguish between IgG and IgM. Due to its relative insensitivity it should be considered as an IgG test system and a negative result should not be considered to exclude past infection.

This assay can not distinguish between past influenza infection and response to recent vaccination.

CFTs are for

Influenza A virus antibody
Influenza B virus antibody
Adenovirus antibody
RSV antibody
Q fever antibody
Chlamydia genus antibody
Mycoplasma antibody
