Qualitative assessment of immunoglobulin levels.

This test is not currently included in the laboratory's scope of UKAS accreditation to ISO15189:2012.
Clinical details: 
Calculated globulins may be included in the liver function test profile in some laboratories. It is a simple calculation which may indicate low immunoglobulin levels (immunodeficiency) or high immunoglobulins (e.g. polyclonal immune response; multiple myeloma).
The following equation is used in the laboratory to estimate globulins.
All measurements are in g/L:
Globulins = Total protein - albumin
