Special sample instructions: 

The samples should be analysed or manipulated & stored in the laboratory within 2 hours of venepuncture. Please ensure sample tubes are filled exactly to the fill-line as underfilling creates a dilution error and leads to inaccurate results.

Storage and transport: 
If the sample can not reach the laboratory within 1 hour then plasma should be made safe. This is done by separating within 1 hour of collection, freezing an aliquot and transporting to the laboratory whilst still frozen.
