Description: 
Sample sent to PHE Colindale GBRU referral laboratory. In individuals with a positive serum treponemal antibody, CSF serology may guide the diagnosis of neurosyphilis.
Clinical details: 
Please discuss all CSF serology reqeusts with the 'on-call' virology registrar or consultant.

Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) in a sterile universal container with no additives.

Special sample instructions: 

This test is only performed for patients who have a confirmed positive Syphilis serology result on a serum sample.

Storage and transport: 
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR). Please store samples in refrigerator if a delay in sending samples to CSR is unavoidable.
