C.burnetii (Q-fever) serology

This test is referred to another lab outside our network
This does not affect where samples are sent and where your results are issued.
Sample is forwarded by virology staff to reference laboratory and clinical advice is provided by microbiology staff.

CFTs are performed at King's. If positive, the sample is forwarded to RIPL, PHE Porton Down for ELISA, IF and PCR assays.
PCR is done on serum, EDTA whole blood and tissue samples if specified as acute infection.

Q-fever endocarditis, fever of unknown origin, granulomatous hepatitis

10 ml serum, EDTA whole blood, endocardial tissue, valve tissue, post-mortem samples
