Clinical details:
Common genotype - ApoE3/E3
CVD risk increases by about 10% with each apoE4 allele
ApoE2/E2 is associated with remnant hyperlipidaemia
ApoE2/E4 and apoE4/E4 are associated with increased remnant lipoproteins
The assay is specific for the 3 genotypes. Other rarer ApoE mutations associated with hypertriglyceridaemia e.g. ApoELeiden are not detected.
